So I've recently updated Minecraft to 1.9 and it has brought some terrible frames with it like I'm talking consistent 1 frame per second.
I'm confused by this because not only I can run other games on solid 60 fps, but I turned the version back to 1.8.9 and it still has the same problem.
Now I've tried everything to fix it such as Downloading Razer game booster, updating drivers, updating java, reinstalling the game several times and I tried to apply more ram to Minecraft (which did nothing btw). So I'm wondering what other options I have other than waiting for optifine 1.9 because I don't understand how I can run League of Legends on 60 frames on good video settings and 1.9 on the lowest settings at 1 fps.
PC Specs: Acer Laptop - 8GB of ram, Intel Core I5-5200U CPU @ 2.20 GHz, 64 bit operating system, NVIDIA GEFORCE 840m
Give me any ideas but please don't recommend one of the things that I've covered doesn't work XD

Hi, Jewcy.
1. Make sure you are running Minecraft with your NVIDIA graphics, not your Intel graphics. You can check this by pressing F3 in-game, and it should say what graphics driver Minecraft is using.
Hey everyone, please disregard me being a new member.
The lag experienced after updating to client version 1.9 is due to V-Sync. Load the game, go into settings, and disable V-Sync.
If you have an Nvidia based card, having Nvidia Vertical Sync turned ON in the Nvidia Control Panel will also cause this FPS drop/lag.
Making sure that both forms of V-Sync are turned off has completely fixed the problem for me.
The lag/FPS drop occurs both in the game menus and during game play. If you are having trouble navigating the menu, or it seems that when you click any of the options that the menu is unresponsive, give it a few seconds, or in my case a couple minutes, and it will eventually register your cursor's click. Once v-sync is off, boom, problem solved.
If someone with an AMD based card could reply and confirm an issue or no issue at all, that would be great.
I hope this helps!

2. Give your laptop a bit of a clean-up. Do this by defragmenting, uninstalling un-wanted programs, deleting un-wanted files, etc.
3. Reset your laptop as your last resort. Make sure you store your important files, photos, etc in dropbox or any cloud storage.
