Excited to get the new update, I started up a new world, ready to play. Having a pretty nice (and new) computer, I didn't expect any problems as a couple days before I was able to run Minecraft with all settings on high. However, I find that no matter what I play, with the lowest settings on, I can barely move. Please help

There is no reason to have 8GB of ram allocated to vanilla Minecraft, concidering default 500MB goes by fine usually. I suggest lowering it to 2-3GB, it might make a difference (the game is known to slow down when you allocate more than what it can handle).

Specs? Framerate? OS? Logs?
I'm also having this issue.
Any help would be great.
Even with everything on low with 8GB of RAM allocated, I still only get 40-70fps which is atrocious imo..
Downgrading to 1.8.9 with the same settings (no OptiFine either) I still get 200-300fps.
So something broke.
Edit:
Ran a DxDiag, here are the results.

Curse PremiumBoo hoo, 40-70 fps are sooo bad.
I usually had 50 in 1.8, now I have 2 in 1.9. Unmodded, even the damn main menu laggs. Mojang, why!?
Try OptiFine for better results or close the unnecessary apps running background.
