As the title states, I "broke" my world by creating a repeating command block that spawned bats on bats....as you can tell, that exponential spawning of bats quickly almost froze my game. I was able to stop it in time (about half a second) after i realized what was happening, ran a command in chat to kill all non-player entities, and then things were back to normal...at least, it looked that way. The game was no longer frozen, i could run, jump, and do all the normal things, but the world itself wasn't doing what it should.
When i tried to open the command block to delete that command, the command block was inacessible - the command block UI appeared on the screen with all the normal buttons, but all of the buttons except "cancel" were greyed out and un-clickable. The command that was in the block also was not displaying in the text box, but i could still edit the line. I typed a few letters, waited about 10 seconds, and THEN everything was working normally. However, this happens every time I open any command block in the whole world, no matter when it was placed.
Then i discovered more problems. The redstone i had set up was no longer running - instead, the signal had stopped on one of the repeaters, leaving that repeater activated, but the signal was not moving. I destroyed the repeater and replaced it, then tried to restart the clock by sending a signal back into it, but the redstone was not responding to redstone charges of any kind.
I then decided to reload everything. I exited to the main menu and tried re-entering the world. I was able to get in, but nothing was loading (or at least I could not see any blocks). I was frozen, seemingly suspended in mid-air on the invisible blocks beneath my feet. I could not run, walk, jump, or move in any way, nor could I place blocks. I could switch items, but the item in my characters hand was not changing. I could rotate my point of view, but my character's hands would not rotate with me, and in third-person my character was invisible. After about 30 seconds, everything loaded rather suddenly, but i was still having the same problems mentioned above. I then tried closing and re-opening Minecraft itself, but it didn't help.
Can someone please help me? I know this is terribly vague but I'm just as confused as you probably are after reading this. I tried to provide as many details as possible. I'm about to try restarting my computer.
Update: By the time I finished typing this and tabbed back to Minecraft, everything had returned to normal. This is really weird. I'll leave this here in case anyone else runs into a similar problem. ._.

I went kinda further away from where the problem originated in the world to try something else that i had set up (~50 blocks away) and it was at this point that i closed and re-opened minecraft as i said i n the op, then typed this post and went back to the spot where everything happened and everything was back to normal (if that makes sense). ._.
