So since the 1.9 update, I have been having a peculiar issue with sticky pistons. They seem to be replicating the blocks they push as they push them. So, say I have a piston pointing straight up with a stone block above it, and just air above that. It pushes the stone up, retracts, and now there is a stone on it, and another in the spot above that. This continues until it can't push anymore. I haven't actually been able to see this happening, I just see the results later. I think it is happening when the world loads, but I could be mistaken. I have attached screenshots showing the problem. This is becoming a real problem for my world, since in some cases I have pistons facing each other (from across a hallway) that shouldn't be able to reach each other, but as the blocks duplicate, they eventually push each other out of position and break my redstone wires. That's only if they hit the wire itself though, if they hit the block it's on, the wire stays put (screenshot 4).
I'm really not sure what to do about this, I looked around for awhile and couldn't find anyone else having a similar problem. Anyone have any idea what's going on here?
I don't have any video recording software, so I cleaned up the mess the pistons made and took a few more screenshots, so you can see what it is supposed to look like. As you can see from the first two new pictures, there not as many blocks as in the first set I uploaded. The challenges here are supposed to be about platforming where the platforms are moving. It worked perfectly prior to 1.9, but as soon as I updated, the pistons started duplicating the blocks. Also, I just noticed while cleaning those blocks up, occasionally the pistons aren't retracting when they stop receiving power. I don't think this issue is related to the block-duplication, but I included a screenshot anyway, just in case.
Scratch what I said about it happening during the load, I just worked on something else for a few minutes and came back and there are a few new blocks that weren't there before. I just cleared them out for the 'before' screenshots, and now they're starting to come back. Maybe it's an issue with lag? Anyway, I'm going to go download a video recorder and see if I can't get some video of this happening.
Alright, apparently staring at the pistons move for an hour doesn't trigger whatever it is that is messing up. I tried flying around a bit and turning more things on to make it lag a bit more, still no luck. Whatever causes this to happen apparently happens infrequently enough to make it difficult/impossible to get a video. I hope I have explained the problem sufficiently to work with the screenshots, because I don't think I'm going to be able to get video.
EDIT: Less than five minutes after I posted this, I discovered something else. I went to clean up a different a different mess caused by the piston duplication thing, but since I've gotten tired of replacing everything that get's pushed out of the way, I thought I should put an immovable block a few spaces in front of the pistons to stop them from going out of control. When I tried to place a block onto the duplicated block, it replaced it. I was able to get video of this, I'm uploading it to Sendvid now, I'll post it here when it finishes.
So, I went to report this as a bug, and found that someone else has beaten me to it. Mojang is aware and this issue will (hopefully) be fixed soon. Anyone else who has this issue, there's not much you can really do until the fix is released. Apparently, the issue is caused by the chunks loading/unloading, so if it is running and you go far away and then come back, that is when the bug can occur. Here is a video I found explaining it a bit more: .

It's really hard to tell what's happening from those images. Maybe post a video or do a before and after standing in the same place each time.
