I'm not really sure what's up, but since updating to 1.9, I'm getting a massive delay when trying to remove or place blocks, as well as when trying to eat food. I never had this issue in 1.8. This is in SSP, mind you.
My framerate is fine, but this block delay is unbearable. Anyone know of a fix?
I'm currently running Windows 10 with Java 8 Update 73.
I have been experiencing similar issues, though they are far more pronounced on multiplayer servers - the delay gets up to 5 seconds in some cases. Eating consumable items also doesn't work until you hold down the key for about two or three times as long as it should take.

After further testing, I found that staying in one area to let chunks load speeds things up a bit, but this still takes an incredibly long time, especially so on amplified worlds. Since Mojang has apparently messed up bigtime with this part of 1.9, I guess we'll just have to wait for Optifine to correct their mistakes.

A quick update:
Restarting my PC did nothing.
Not only do blocks take several seconds to remove after they break, but mobs also move slowly, as if they were also lagging on a server.
Breaking blocks in Creative mode works very well, but mobs still move as though they were lagging.
Oddly, breaking grass blocks works correctly in both Creative and Survival, but breaking regular blocks does not.
And yes, I'm running 64-bit Java, and made sure to allocate 4 GB of RAM to MC (I have 8 GB total).
Am I seriously the only one with this issue?
