I would like to ask a question. How would you guys increase FPS on a high end PC?
I have an Alienware PC with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-470HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz with 16GB of Ram.
My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M.
With these specs, I still only get 40-50 and sometimes down to 20 on the new Minecraft 1.9 (this was the same with all Minecraft versions using singleplayer and multiplayer).
I'm pretty sure I should be able to run Minecraft a bit faster than this as I run much more resource intensive games such as Ark, Star Wars Battlefront and more...
The first bold piece is my Max RAM usage (3G). The last is the minimum (1G). You can change this to whatever you like. For you, I'd suggest 6G or 8G Max and a 2G or 3G min. You can also specify it in MB (1024M = 1G).
Thanks for the quick reply, but this unfortunately didn't work. When I tried to change the -XMx1G number, it's saying that it exceeds the limit of maximum RAM use by Minecraft.
Hey everyone, please disregard me being a new member.
The lag experienced after updating to client version 1.9 is due to V-Sync. Load the game, go into settings, and disable V-Sync.
If you have an Nvidia based card, having Nvidia Vertical Sync turned ON in the Nvidia Control Panel will also cause this FPS drop/lag.
Making sure that both forms of V-Sync are turned off has completely fixed the problem for me.
The lag/FPS drop occurs both in the game menus and during game play. If you are having trouble navigating the menu, or it seems that when you click any of the options that the menu is unresponsive, give it a few seconds, or in my case a couple minutes, and it will eventually register your cursor's click. Once v-sync is off, boom, problem solved.
If someone with an AMD based card could reply and confirm an issue or no issue at all, that would be great.
Hey all you helpful people on the internet!

Have you allowed Minecraft to use more RAM? I was lagging until I allowed it more RAM, and I no longer have problems.
Open Launcher -> Edit Profile -> Very last box:

It rhymes with braille, not drool.

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion,

First. XMN IS NOT MINIMUM. DO NOT CHANGE THIS $^&%*(&%** NUMBER! Unless you want horrible performance.
Second, Synrgex you must be using 32bit Java. Go download 64bit. (assuming you have a 64bit OS)
Make sure you're running Minecraft using your NVIDIA graphics, not your Intel graphics.
You can check this by pressing F3 in-game and in the top left corner, it will tell you what graphics driver Minecraft is currently using.
I'm using 64 bit Java
Thanks for the suggestion!
Changing from the Intel graphics to my NVIDIA graphics helped so much! I'm getting from 150 fps - 250!
Thank you so much! Have a nice day!
Thanks a bunch,
Syn
No worries!
