I just bought this game for my son. I am trying to get it to launch but the following shows up in the launcher log every time. I have tried reinstalling, deleting the .minecraft folder, run as admin. Java is up to date. I am on Windows 10 pro. Thanks for any help in advance.

I just downloaded 1.8.9 and am having the same exact error. I am on Windows 7. I've tried all of the usual troubleshooting stuff and things. Let's hope someone can help us!

***bedore doing this double check the the Java path of your working or "newest version" profile is in fact different from your non-working profiles. If your Java paths are the same then this fix probably is not right for your errors. I noticed that with mc launcher update 1.6.57 that my profile with newest settings had a new Java path to version 1.8.0_74 and my non-working 1.7.10 forge 1558 profiles showed a Java path of 1.8.0_60. I copied the working Java path into my non-working profiles...below is how i did it. Please read #5 before you erase data with copy and paste. ***
1. I created profile and rather than selecting 1.8.9 I selected *newest version* and launched.
2. once game launched I closed it.
3. Then relaunched mc and went back into the new profile and copied the new Java path 1.8.0_74 back into my non-working 1558 profile.
4. Then i launched the updated 1558 profile and it worked.
#5. Please copy and paste your Java links to notepad before you erase anything by pasting...I did as back up. So if this doesn't help you. You can retrieve your original Java link from notepad. And not loose original path and try a different fix.

I just bought this game for my son. I am trying to get it to launch but the following shows up in the launcher log every time. I have tried reinstalling, deleting the .minecraft folder, run as admin. Java is up to date. I am on Windows 10 pro. Thanks for any help in advance.

Is what is actually there. I tried to rename it, but it just redownloads it as the wrong name.
I just downloaded 1.8.9 and am having the same exact error. I am on Windows 7. I've tried all of the usual troubleshooting stuff and things. Let's hope someone can help us!

I am in same boat. Trying to launch but screen just goes white after downloading.
I am able to launch "latest" version settings w/o problem. However not 1.7.10 with forge 1340, 1448,1558,1614. All others are dead except 1.8.9
I went to https://minecraft.net/download and clicked the link under "Minecraft for Windows (alternative)". That worked for me.
I just did the same thing.. and it worked. Looks like the problem may reside in the .MSI downloadable on the main website.

I did fix my 1.7.10 forge 1558.
***bedore doing this double check the the Java path of your working or "newest version" profile is in fact different from your non-working profiles. If your Java paths are the same then this fix probably is not right for your errors. I noticed that with mc launcher update 1.6.57 that my profile with newest settings had a new Java path to version 1.8.0_74 and my non-working 1.7.10 forge 1558 profiles showed a Java path of 1.8.0_60. I copied the working Java path into my non-working profiles...below is how i did it. Please read #5 before you erase data with copy and paste. ***
1. I created profile and rather than selecting 1.8.9 I selected *newest version* and launched.
2. once game launched I closed it.
3. Then relaunched mc and went back into the new profile and copied the new Java path 1.8.0_74 back into my non-working 1558 profile.
4. Then i launched the updated 1558 profile and it worked.
#5. Please copy and paste your Java links to notepad before you erase anything by pasting...I did as back up. So if this doesn't help you. You can retrieve your original Java link from notepad. And not loose original path and try a different fix.
