TL;DR: Too much RAM and you get lag spikes thanks to the fact that more allocated RAM means more lazy workload on Java's garbage collector. Too little and the same thing happens since Java needs to try to make space for new stuff all the time. Try to find a good balance.
I like minecraft to have a lot of wiggle room, Manley due to HD texture packs, and for recording.
and the 64 bit java was missing on the system in question, it's another family member's computer, and it worked, I just thought it was Windows 10 being a pain, thank you all so much for your support.
After changing the JVM argument from 1G to 16G, all i get is this:
"Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx16G
The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size."
and this is the argument:
-Xmx16G -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn128M
could someone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
i did the same thing on my Win 7 system, and its works fine (60 fps, even with an HD texture pack)

16G? there's no way that you need that much memory.
But you certainly need 64bit Java to go above ~1.5G

Moderatordo you have 16Gb spare?
why 16 Gb? more ram doesn't equal more FPS
do you have 64 bit java/windows installed?
Read this here before bothering to adjust your RAM again.
Also, make sure you have 64-bit Java installed.

the balance for my system is 16GB, taking in to account, i like to record gameplay, (albeit, Fraps isn't TOO demanding)
it's just what i found works the best,
(BTW love that danasoft tracker)
