I am trying to install the Forge mod loader in Minecraft 1.8.9, but about halfway through the tartup sequence, it clsoes and this report appears in the launcher's log:

Yeah. The computer I'm running it on is more like a "I wonder if this will run on a 14-yr-old computer" kind of thing. Vanilla Minecraft actually runs, even though it's got a framerate of about 4-6 fps. I have a distro of Linux running on it because it's less resource-intensive.
Oh. I have a much newer computer running the same Minecraft version, so I guess I'll use that one for modded stuff. On my old PC I get about 4 to 6 FPS with Optifine, but it's still playable. I mostly do Survival mode on it. I also have Linux installed to let programs use more resources.
