The game starts off just fine. I can play for maybe 15 minutes or so... when the lag starts.
I am running the newest version of Forge, on 1.7.10
It'll go five seconds, then freeze for a half second. Five seconds, freeze, five seconds, freeze... constantly. It literally does it worse and worse and worse the longer I play. Basically happens every couple steps I take in the game.
I have Optifine, and I've messed with the settings... a lot. Nothing. It hasn't helped.
I've repaired my Minecraft installation, and it doesn't seem connected to a mod because the new mods I put in have since been removed. Render distance is set to low and I have my computer set to allocate a decent amount of memory/ram to Minecraft.
The lag has been so severe that I can hardly get through doors and if mobs come... well, I'm screwed. It is literally unplayable unless I want to restart the game every time the intermittent freezing starts, even in Creative when I'm building or looking for a place to build. Yeah, when I restart the game the intermittent freezing stops... but it starts right back up again after playing for a bit.
I have no crash report because, obviously, it's not crashing. Just lagging really, really bad.

OH yeah, when I was searching for that I found a thread that suggested allocating more RAM to MC. For NOW adding lots more RAM (I have 16 gigs, I've allocated 6 gigs to Minecraft, will do more if I have to) and for now the lag seems to have gone away!

You shouldn't have to allocate 6 GB to Minecraft to have a lag-free experience. Even if you were using over 200 mods, you usually won't need more than 4 GB.
I'd still suggest you post your JVM arguments. I suspect there's something messed up, like a -Xmn argument set way too high.

Curse PremiumPost your JVM arguments. This reeks of messed up JVM arguments.
Realistic Torches - Causes torches to burn out after a configurable amount of time.
Nature's Compass - A utility item that allows you to search for any biome's location in the world.
Notes - Provides a clientside in-game notepad.
Souls - After you die, a hostile Soul that stores your inventory will spawn.
Auto Refresh - Automatically refreshes your server list and alerts you when your selected server comes online.
Pick Block Plus - A clientside mod that significantly improves the vanilla pick block function.
And a few others that we don't talk about.
Where do I find those?

Curse PremiumIf you're using Mojang's launcher, they'll be in Edit Profile.
