I'm trying to set up a multiplayer server for myself and couple of friends. I can log into the server using localhost, but on the server select screen, it says Can't connect to server. Trying to connect anyway gets me this error message: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information.
I've tried a number of things already. Deleted and re-downloaded the entire server. Tried using the .jar instead of the .exe. Created exceptions for UDP and TCP. Went as far as to completely turn off any type of protection. Made sure everything on my system was up to date. Just can't seem to get it connecting. I've spent a few hours searching for solutions, and never did land on anything that worked for it. Sometimes they just made it worse.
Also, from what I could tell, this is a common thing and not an issue, but the .exe version doesn't show any informatiion in the Log and Chat box, if it matters.
You need to make sure that you have port forwarded your router. Also you will want to connect using your ip. There are numerous sites that will give you that information. You can just google "whats my IP". And for port forwarding your router there are more than a few tutorials on youtube that show you how to do that.
