How helpful can a chat room be if it mutes everyone when there is a real issue and the moderators don't want to hear people "moan"? If I had come to the IRC channel a minute later I would not have known what the problem was. Yes you'll get the same question asked over and over until the problem is solved, that isthe pointof having a place to ask!

ModeratorThe minecrafthelp channel is run by volunteers and NOT Mojang, they have no control over the server issue and can not fix it.
Anything they do is down to the channel, not Mojang or this forum
