I am unable to connect to my friends server. Yes the ports have been forwarded, yes I have changed my firewall settings, yes I have deleted minecraft folders/settings as well as restarted my computer. Still cant connect. The server is fine because everyone else can connect just fine.
its always been like that, when ever the login servers fail anyone already logged in to a server stay logged in to the server, and only see the issue if they leave.
the issue is the login/authentication system, not the server itsaelf, once you are on a server you don't touch the auth system unless you leave and return
Also if you are not hosting a server, you didn't need to port forward, and in fact, you can mess up your ability to connect to a server if you tried to port forward to your friends server.
I understand for some "Port Forwarding" may be difficult, but here is a quick an easy way you can open all your ports to play on a server safely. Built into most modems there is a option called DMZ.
This is for windows only
1. Press start, Type "CMD" and press enter
2. Type "ipconfig" in the black screen
3. Look for the numbers after "Default Gateway"
4. Memorize those numbers and open your internet browser to go to your control panel
5. Sniff around for and option called DMZ
6. When you find it (if you do) It should ask you for an ip address.
7. Go back to your command prompt, and copy the "IPV4 address"
8. Paste it in your panel for DMZ, and make sure its enabled.
9. Press save.
If that does not work, You have some sort of fire-wall on the Hosting PC.
Hope it helps!

All of minecraft is down, .net, realms, and servers. You can stay on, but if you leave it will give an error

Moderatorit won't affect someone already on a server, but only trying to join
interesting..
never heard of that. Usually when servers are down they're like...you know, down. Meaning NO players (connecting or connected) lol

Why would you open your PC up to the internet when you are only trying to be a client?!
Do not follow those instructions.
Even when trying to host a server those instructions are overkill.
