I am playing on FTB infinity 2.3.3 currently and am experiencing problems with NEI. (This has been occuring since 2.0.0). I can play the game just fine, and for many items searching NEI causes no problems. However, when I search certain words or word segments, my game freezes up and becomes non-responsive. I have let it sit for 30 minutes before with no response, and end up having to force end the game every time. However, I have not gotten any direct crashes of the game due searching something on NEI. I have tested this with nothing but FTB running, and have had no differences vs running with google chrome or ts3.
I have noted so far that these words/word segments cause crashes:
tank, oil, water, carp, fuel
and several other ones i cant think of off the top of my head (including some that have nothing to do with any type of fluids or fluid containers).
Just in case, my computer has an i5-3230M 2.6GHz CPU and 8.0 GB of memory (of which i have 4.25 dedicated to ftb). I have observed my cpu, memory, and hard drive usage while the game freezes up, and nothing seems to maxe out.
Because it does not cause a crash, there are unfortunately no logs I know for me to post that have to do with the situation.
And yes, I have tried refreshing the pack, completely deleting and reinstalling the pack, and completely deleting and reinstalling ftb. I have updated java to the latest version, and restarting my computer does not help either.
This happens in both singleplayer and in multiplayer, but oddly enough no one else on the FTB server I play on seems to have this problem, including my friend who's computer is not as good as mine.
I really hate having to wait 10 minutes to close out the game and restart it every time I accidentally NEI the wrong word.
Have you checked on the FTB forums, since they created this modpack?
I have looked around for several hours over the last couple months on the general internet and on the FTB forums and found nothing about it. If someone knows of one relating to this issue and can direct me to it that would be fantastic as well.

"We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far."
