After installing minecraft on a new computer, I wasn't able to connect to any servers, including self-hosted ones that are not set to offline mode, as it always gives me the "authentication servers under maintenance" error. Skins also don't show up, and generally anything that seems to contact the mojang servers don't work. I have tried everything from running minecraft in admin mode to disabling my firewall, but to no avail. The mojang servers are available, that I am sure, and this has been happening for 4-5 days. Help.

Hmm, ok.
What Operating are you using? Windows? Mac? What version?
What version Minecraft are you trying to run? I would recommend testing it with the latest version, which is (as of now) 1.8.9.
If your running Windows, which installer did you download? If you downloaded the .msi, try downloading the .exe. If you downloaded the .exe, try downloading the .msi.
I'm running it in windows 8.1, and I have tried both the .exe and .msi, multiple versions of minecraft, and alternative launchers (ex. technic launcher, ftb). Nothing I do seems to work, and I'm kinda giving up at this point.

Well, it sound to me like Minecraft can't connect to the Internet. What anti-virus are you running? If your running a 3rd party anti-virus, make sure windows defender is completely turned off.

Have you customized any launcher profiles?
