This started happening a few days ago. I go to launch minecraft (either the vanilla launcher or the curse launcher) and it crashes instantly. This is with the launcher, not the game. I can't even get to the point of launching the game.
If you google for "AcLayers.dll crash" the compatibility mode thing is one of several possibilities.
Another is malware (this DLL is a windows system DLL and therefore a "normal" looking place to hide)
But the next thing to consider perhaps (since its simple to try) is whether there's some damage to the windows file(s). Try running an sfc /scannow check See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833
If that shows nothing, checking out some of the other google results may be fruitful.

What's that fault module? AcLayers.dll ? can't quite make it out.
trying not running the launcher in compatibility mode.
AcLayers.dll is correct and as far as I know, I'm not running anything in compatibility mode, let alone minecraft...

Apparently, upon trying to launch with compatibility mode turned ON, it works.
