So I got a brand new Acer R 13 laptop and downloaded minecraft. When I opened it up it seemed fine but when I play I average 25 FPS. This is extremely low for me. I have windows 10 and here's a paste bin with all the necessary information that should be needed to provide support. Thanks in advance
If not turn them off becouse I believe VBOs trys to keep framerate at 60 fps and from my experience, it doesn't even let it go up to 40
VBO's seem to help most except those with great video cards. You are right with vsync in that it syncs the framerate to the refresh rate.
For the OP:
You are using a CPU for both the processor and graphics. Depending on your setup it may or may not be the correct frame rate for your system since you don't have a dedicated GPU or graphic processing unit used solely for graphics. You could try tweaking Intel's settings to see if it helps. Look at this page to get you started:

VBOs is a more modern way of rendering a scene by uploading vertices to the GPU and the GPUs video memory rather than storing them in system memory and sending them to the GPU on-the-spot. Previously Minecraft used the latter method, storing vertice information in system memory and sending them to the GPU on-the-spot when rendering takes place, which is good for older hardware that don't support VBOs, but bad for hardware that supports VBOs as you don't take advantage of the speed benefits of having data directly and immediately accessible to the GPU versus sending it through a PCIe bus. VBOs on modern, decent GPUs can result in substantial improvements in performance. Older or underpowered GPUs will have no benefits from using VBOs or may have performance problems with VBOs.
You're thinking of V-Sync, which caps the frame rate to your monitor's refresh rate to avoid wasting resources and screen tearing.

You have an Intel HD 5500 GPU which is a fairly weak GPU, even an NVIDIA GeForce 820M outperforms the HD 5500 by 10% - 15%. Try reducing the video settings till you get at least 30 FPS. Try not playing in full screen if you're playing in full screen too, more pixels means more work for your computer to do, meaning lower FPS.

I changed my display, battery, and 3D all to performance instead of, what it was on default, battery save mode. Along with those I turned VSync off and VBO's were already off. Thank you all for your help <3
VBO's will help Intel HD graphics; they help my son.
It really depends on how recent the GPU is. I don't think it'd help with an integrated GPU due to the fact that the GPU is already using system memory, rather than it's own dedicated memory on the PCB with a dedicated card.

My son has a recent i5 with Intel HD graphics and it is enough to notice. I would say it is enough to seriously consider and give a chance. I don't pretend to understand how it exactly works just that I have visually seen first hand the results.
The fact that there is such low performance with most Intel HD graphics means any little bit really helps. The real interesting thing is that my nephew has a similar setup and he gets over 100 FPS more than my sons with Intel HD graphics. This just goes to show how inconsistent this particular graphics really is.

I forgot to add, I play outlast on this laptop and it runs just fine, there's not skipping or FPS problems in it.
