I've been having a million issues with minecraft lately, and most of them have stemmed from Kaspersky antivirus. I've temporarily turned off protection, and Minecraft finally began working again. Then, when I went to sign into my friends' realm server, I was given an error saying my Minecraft wasn't up to date. Come to realize, I'm still using 1.8.8 for some reason, and Minecraft isn't updating for me. Is there a way to force the update?

I'm using Windows Vista.
Make sure that your launcher profile is adjusted correctly.
