I got a new computer recently and I can run ever game smoothly except minecraft and it is not the computer because i get around 100+ fps.
When i do a ping test or check the ping of minecraft servers its upwards of around 300+. I have fantastic internet and i have 4g dedicated to minecraft itself to ensure i can get max amount of fps from my computer but for some reason i get latency and the game freezes for about 3 seconds every once in a while making it impossible to pvp and 30% of the blocks either return to my inventory or get placed 3 seconds late.
where in the world are you compaired to the server your playing on?
speedtest uses the closest server it can to you, hence the low ping, in some cases the server maybe in your own town and you will see a near 0 ping, but if you are say in the UK, and the server is in Australia then you will see a high ping just from the distance, and then add in any network congestion on the route, or a bad connection somewhere down the line
I am currently living in Texas and the server that i get the lowest ping to is in Virginia but, on any server i try to play on i get good internet connection then i get the ping spikes of about 600ms every 5 seconds which basically freezes everythign
