Hello everyone, I have a Win 7 laptop and am using the latest minecraft version (1.8.9).
However, I can´t seem to get it running using my dedicated nvidia card, instead it uses the Intel one. I press F3 and it shows intel.
1. I have the latest driver
2. I have tried right clicking and "running with high performance"
3. I have gone to Nvidia Control panel and under program settings set up "Java" and "Javaw" to run with dedicated card. (as well as the 2 other java files)
4. I installed both Javas (64bit and normal one)
5. I have checked under the minecraft profile and it is running from the Javaw.exe.
I don´t know what to do anymore, ran out of ideas. How in the world do I get Javaw to run with my nvidia card?
Grimall. I have made sure that the Java minecraft uses "Javaw" is the same one that I put on Nvidia control panel to run on high performance. Same directory both.
My control panel nvidia is also with the same path, set to run as high performance. In addition, I set the other 3 javas also to run with high performance.
I think you may have run into the same issue I did with my laptop or something similar. I upgraded my laptop to win10 and was able to play minecraft alright until a java update came through (I think it was U60) and now no matter what I do, even downgrading the java to a previous version, it always errors out with "Pixel format not accelerated". I know my video card drivers went legacy so I cannot update them anymore,
also, i'm trying to figure out what you mean by "separate video card, not on board", as far as I know most laptops (maybe all unless a gamer laptop) have built in video cards. some clarification on the separate video card would be handy.

Just meant the dedicated card and the integrated. Mine has an integrated Intel one and a dedicated Nvidia one. The issue is that I can´t get Minecraft to use the Nvidia one.
I'm sorry for all the questions but, can you please open up the Nvidia Control Panel and check the PhysX portion of it? It lists all the GPUs (and CPUs) installed on your computer that could help process the PhysX code. If your GPU isn't listed, you're in quite a pickle.
And, I remember reading something about setting the GPU on a pinned thread somewhere. I'll go check it out quickly so I can update on the situation.

Which nVidea card do you have, because some may not be compatible for running minecraft on windows 10.
Like I mentioned, I have windows 7.
Grimall. I have made sure that the Java minecraft uses "Javaw" is the same one that I put on Nvidia control panel to run on high performance. Same directory both.
This is the path for minecraft: "Executable" is checked in.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25\bin\javaw.exe
My control panel nvidia is also with the same path, set to run as high performance. In addition, I set the other 3 javas also to run with high performance.
Like I said, Nvidia not running.
Sorry about that. Here you go.
I tried the same and no fix.
Something must of changed in the last patch, been playing 2 years with my graphics card no problem.
Thank you Grimallq for the help. Wonder if anyoe else has any input?
Out of question, are you using a monitor other than your laptop's?
No, just laptop.
bump
