i need help please, i tried to download optiFine and Forge but it only opened in Internet Explorer and i did some research and downloaded winRaR and now they open a lot of files in winRaR and it doesn't open neither optiFine or Forge, is there a certain type of java i need to open these mods? please i got a new laptop and i dont know why this is happening but i need these mods!!!

Before you post to the support make sure you have the latest version of Java installed, if you do, right click on the downloaded optifine file and go to open with, Java (TM) something something. Hope this helps.
First download forge installer in the version you want. put that in your desktop. then open the software. click install client and it will download you libraries.
then in the minecraft launcher, you will see a profile called forge. select it and run minecraft ONCE. the click quit game. download a mod according to the forge version you downloaded before. put it in your desktop. then click in yourdesktop "all my files" or anything like that. then search for the folder "library"
then open it. click the file called application support and then minecraft create a mods folder and in there put all your jar mods you want. close it,then we would want to use the profile we created before. click play. Then enjoy your mod!

That's for mac. You probably have a Windows computer.

second make sure the forge version says .exe for windows .jar for mac (lunix not sure)
third run the vanilla based version your going to mod
forth run the forge .exe or .jar depending on your build or os
fifth go to edit profile in launcher and click the one that says forge
sixth after it boots up close launcher and go to %appdata% (for windows) or ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/ (in mac but click go to folder)
seventh drop the optifine version in the mods folder and make sure it matches your version of forge and close the window and click the launcher and forge profile and your good to go.
