I apologize if this is already addressed in another thread, but I did a search and did not see anything listed, but I will admit I did not read every thread.

I am trying to install Forge on an HP Stream 11. From what I have read I need to open the Installer using something called Java Platform SE Binary. I could not find that exact download so I downloaded Java Setup 8u66. I launched the setup, but did not find a specific .exe file to launch when opening the Installer. Is this the correct download or did I need something else? If I need something else, could I get the link?

Secondly, when I download the /installer, it is a compressed file. Do I need to extract the files before opening it with Java? If so, what file needs to be run to actually install on Mindcraft? Or can Java extract the files itself?

Lastly, while I would like to get Forge on here for future mods, if /i am really off-track here, I would like to at least get Optifine on here.

Thanks for the input. I did install Java, by running that Java Setup 8u66 file. I also did a little text from the Java site that indicated I have Java setup correctly. I'm interpreting your response to mean that running that setup will install the Java Platform SE Binary?

Also sounds like I do not need to uncompressed that compressed file?

Where is the .exe installer which Forge supplies? I did not see an .exe file anywhere.

And I love the idea of using a Launcher that installs Forge automatically. Any suggestions? Links?
