Check your Minecraft sound options and desktop sound options (and mixer).
Still no sound?
Well here is the solution.
Solution 1:
Go to your sound icon and find 'java: Playback Stream' or something similar. If you can't find it, go to 'mixer'. Put your java sound up to max and see (ugh. Hear) if Minecraft responds with sounds!
Solution 2:
Go to a Minecraft world or server. Press f3 and a debug screen should show up (letters and data on the top of your screen), if that doesn't work, press shift+f3. When the debug screen pops up, press f3+S or [shift+f3+s] and wait. (Screen might freeze for a while...) After it is done loading try the sound.
Solution 3:
If all the other solutions don't work try deleting and reinstalling Minecraft.
First of all.
