When I play long enough, minecraft uses up around 6-7 GB of RAM, freezing most of my computer. It's pretty annoying have to shut down javaw.exe.
I've edited a line in version.json to have -Xms3012M and when I press F3 in game it shows that it's using a max of 2939MB.
What I don't get is how it's even possible for it to go over the limit. Do you guys know what's going on?
For an alternative fix, can someone teach me how to limit processes RAM usage directly? I know it's at the cost of the game possibly crashing but I want to test it for this game.

Thought that was for RAM limitations. I suppose I was mislead, or mislead myself?
..and I just noticed the -Xms argument isn't there anymore. I know I saved.
Ah, I'm using Technic launcher. It currently has no java args in place, but I have set the memory to 3GB.
I've tried to find javaw.exe/1.7.10 for the java version but to no success in the launcher. Here's a screenshot.,
