Ok so I know that you can run the old snapshots for 1.8 if you have the .jar file and the .json file. I have the jar file but I have no idea where to get the son file. Anyone know?
the 15w30 and up are on the list, if its not on the list its not on the Mojang servers anymore, and obtaining the files from elsewhere is against Mojangs T&Cs and not allowed here either

No thats not what i said, i said if the files are on the Mojang server they will be in the launcher, obtaining the files from anywhere else (e.g. not on the launcher or Mojang servers) is against Mojang T&C's
then you can't get it unless you still have a copy of it.
(note to anyone else, sharing the file is against Mojangs T&Cs, and not allowed on this forum, breaking this is against forum rules and WILL result in a warning)

Moderatoruse the launcher to select the snapshot you want to play on, edit profile, check the use snapshots box, then select the snapshot from dropdown
you can't select snapshots from 1.8 anymore

If they are on Mojang's site, then they are in the list.

No it is not. It's snapshot 14w02c. I just want any snapshot in 1.8 so I can run JL2579's Tree generator. It only works in the 1.8 snapshots.

Do you mean a copy of the snapshot json file or the actual jar? Cause the jar is on the website
The snapshots are still on Mojang's servers, just not listed in the launcher; here are the links to the jar and json for 14w02c:

I got those from this thread; the json files are not included for snapshots but you just have to change the version in the links:
