Start minecraft, don't press play, in the bottom left corner you will see "Edit Profile" button, click it. The window will open, find the line that says "Use Version" and set it to "Use Latest Version". Click "Save Profile" and launch the game. It should work now.

My kids play on a PC & yesterday they went to join their friends' realm, which is done daily.
This time they couldn't, the screen said "CLIENT OUTDATED! YOUR CLIENT IS OUTDATED & NOT COMPATIBLE WITH REALMS PLEASE CONSIDER UPDATING IT."
Can someone guide me through this process or send me in the right direction for step by step instructions please?
I am VERY worried about losing all the work my kids have done.
