That did not work on either platforms. I should also note that this computer ran my old worlds which I think were all 1.5.2 as long as I was in 1.5.2
Also, I am creating new worlds when I try to join
if that still won't work please do a HijackThis log

that looks clean to me though i'm still getting the hang of decoding a HJT log, try removing avast, normally avast isn't an issue, but if its got a bad install it can, if minecraft works once removed put avast back.
hanachi could also be interfering as it messes with internet connections

Well, avast is uninstalled and the game only crashes when joining worlds, not just servers.

Curse PremiumI think the problem is "old computer." MC is very greedy on resources, might have to use a "newer" computer.

To clear your DNS cache on Windows, you need to open a Command Prompt (cmd) window as Administrator. In this window, please type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.
I know it isn't that. This computer is actually nearly as good as my laptop that can run the game.

Moderatorwhat antivirus do you use?
The computer had avast, but I uninstalled it.The computer also has McAfee security scan, if that matters. So all I have is the firewall, I guess.

To completely uninstall McAfee products, use this tool:http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp
if that still won't work please do a HijackThis log
