I played the game only a few months at best after I bought it middle of last year. I have scoured the internet to no avail of this issue. The game crashes randomly 5-20 minutes into gameplay. The screen goes black and the pc is unresponsive. I have to perform a hard reboot to get anything to work. I can play any other game on the market at high to maxed settings. Only Minecraft give me this issue. I tried Mojang and since the crash dump does not work they say they can do nothing. I feel cheated by buying a game that will not run. I have everything up to date. I even formatted the whole system and started fresh only to have the same issue. Any clues would be a greatly appreciated. Oh yeah. Using windows 8.1. Sorry about the original post being in the wrong thread. This is my first time ever using forums for assistance.

You might want to lower your render distance; all of those "can't keep up" warnings surely mean you are getting noticeable lag in-game (e.g. mine a block and it reappears without dropping, then a few seconds later it drops, mobs move in a jerky fashion, chunks load very slowly, etc). 32 chunk render distance is extremely resource demanding, although it shouldn't make your computer crash if it can't handle it (worse case the game or Java crashes).
Also, Minecraft is quite CPU intensive, more so than many other games, which mainly use the GPU, and your computer (CPU) may be overheating.
Also, TheRealGerov was talking about a crash report, which will be in your .minecraft folder (click on edit profile and "open game directory" for quick access, there should be a sub folder named "crash-reports"), although if your computer itself is crashing there won't be any, and the game output just prior to a crash probably wasn't saved (it might also help to look in Event Viewer to see if there are any system errors, but again this isn't of use if the computer suddenly stops working, you'll just get an improper shutdown notice on the next boot).
I can check the the chunk distance, but I have tried different settings of that with the same result. I lose video all together and sometimes the sound continues sometimes it doesn't. I have to manual shutdown at that point. The cpu never breaks 100 degrees F. I have a water cooled cpu. I did check the event viewer and the crash log, but there is nothing. All I can come up with is on one post somewhere, someone said 570 and java are conflicting due to bad coding from minecraft. I put it on my other computer and it is running fine.
CPU: Phenom II 955 black
RAM: 6GB 1333
HDD: 160 GB 7200 RPM
GPU: Onboard ATI Radeon HD4250
It's is mind boggling to me. The system originally posted ran the game fine until shortly after 1.8 was released then it never ran again. *I did check the file directory and there is no folder labelled crash report. That is why Mojang said they could do nothing.
I would agree normally. It is just strange that only minecraft does it and it only started doing it after MC 1.8 release. I will be replacing the card soon for something better, even though it runs all the games above for as long as I feel like playing. The pc also stays on 24x7 and never has issues. After months of research I decided to try this as my last ditch effort. The mystery will never be solved I guess.
CPU: AMD FX_6350 3.8GHz
Memory: 12GB 1600MHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 570 2560MB

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Curse PremiumI think its your graphics card. I had a 600 series GForce and it got laggy. MC is very greedy on resources. Might consider an upgrade.
"We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far."
I was thinking maybe the GPU was the problem but I run all of these without a hiccup.
If your video driver goes catatonic, that's not Minecraft's fault, that's a bug in the video driver.

the newer versions of MC could be using OpenGL features they never used before, thus hitting latent bugs in the for the first time.
