This is the second time now where I will be playing on my singleplayer world, decide to exit it, start it up later and find hours and hours of progress has been lost, and it's not even closed in a harsh way (such as a crash).
I don't want to play if everything I do is lost the next time I close Minecraft.

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
97% of teenagers would cry if they saw Justin Bieber on top of a tower about to jump. If you're the 3% who is sitting there with popcorn screaming "DO A BACKFLIP!", copy and paste this as your signature.
As far as I know, auto-saving cannot be turned off, but I'll look into that after I post this...
Yes, the C drive is low on space, but it still has quite a few GB left, so that shouldn't be a problem.

A computer usually needs to keep a certain amount of space free in order to run properly. Exactly how much space is left, and what is the total drive space?
20/263 - I'll free up space now, maybe that is in fact the problem.

With that much left at that total size, yes it may be your issue. Tho im not sure of the minimum free space required on more modern drives. I was just informed that some modern Windows recommend about 20GB free. So clearing up some space may help out. If you can find 10GB worth of stuff to clear up. That may help.
Just decided to play Minecraft after about 6 months and when I open my save, everything is gone. All 300+ hours of building has been lost. This was the only save I cared about and now I'm considering never playing this game again because of it.

Did you do anything like turning off auto-saves(tbh im not even sure you can do that)? Any chance your computer is low on drive space?
