So opened Minecraft and all my world were removed and servers deleted, and I had a world I was building for Mineplex. It occasionally happens and I don't know why, but maybe someone can help me recover the world.
Thankfully, before this, I saved my most recent .minecraft folder onto my desktop, so the World Files are still there. Will this help me recover it?
Thanks,
TheMineplexHero
P.S. Sorry if I posted in the wrong section. This was the closest thing I could find to "Singleplayer World Problems".

Yes, you can recover the worlds from the backup you made. Singleplayer worlds are saved in .minecraft/saves/ and the list of servers you've added is stored in .minecraft/servers.dat.
Meanwhile, if you can confirm that no one else has access to delete (or move) any of the contents of your .minecraft folder, then I would recommend 3 things: First, make regular backups of it. Second, check your computer for viruses and other malware. And third, check to see if the files exist every time BEFORE starting your client. If you check after, then minecraft will probably re-create the default files there, and that won't answer the question of weather it's just the worlds/servers, or the rest of the .minecraft folder is getting wiped as well. (this can include settings, resource packs, screenshots, etc…)
On the other hand, if someone else IS moving/deleting your .minecraft folder, then ask them politely yet firmly to stop. If they have a separate profile that they use, and have been swapping out 2 different .minecraft folders, then I'd like to recommend using MultiMC for that.
The symptoms you have described can happen if you used the wrong launcher profile, since each profile can be configured to store the .minecraft in a different place via the GameDir parameter. (or if you changed the GameDir since the launcher won't move its contents)

I made my own shader pack, by the way.

So, how do I recover my world? I have it in the .minecraft file.

if the problem is using the wrong profile, or having changed your profile's game directory, then fix it to point to the right .minecraft folder.
This would be the case if all the worlds you were expecting to be there all disappeared at once.
If only one world is missing and others are present, then it's probably corrupted.
I figured it out.
Thanks for the help guys!
