Last night I screwed up trying to open a game of Minecraft and somehow managed to open it twice which I believe caused it to freak out and run choppy. I tried a few different things to get it right again until I decided to just uninstall it all together and reinstall it. I saved the files from a saved game separately before deleting it, too. When I went to reinstall today I got the error: "The system adminstrator has set policies to prevent this installation." This is my private computer and I am the only user so this seemed weird.
With some research I found that this seems to be some kind of corruption in the registry which is making my computer stop the download of the program that seemed to cause it and that the error message I received is kind of a general message. One solution I saw was to run Microsoft FixIt which can often help these kinds of issues but it seems it does not support Windows 10.
Another solution was to change some of the security options that I guess allows me to override the thing that is blocking my download by going into the "Local Security Policy" thing. I tried that and that won't open. It freezes for a little bit and I get an error that says "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". I also realize now that the uninstall programs screen didn't work either and it did the same thing when I first had the issue and clicked "Change account type." This may not be related but I'm pretty sure it is.
I am a fairly competent person with computers (I do basic IT troubleshooting as part of my job) but I feel I am out of my depth. I have already made a similar post on the Windows 10 support forum. Here are my specs:
OS: Windows 10
Computer: Dell XPS L322X (laptop)
Not sure if anyone has run into a similar issue or what, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Feel Free to PM me to talk about anything. Read the guidelines below if you want me to respond though.
1. I' not debating anything. This is a forum, a place for relaxing and having fun.
2. Don't PM me support questions.
3. Don't ask me to join your Faction/League/Clan.
4. If you need someone to write a lore for an RPG or help with some story ideas, don't hesistate to ask me! Although please note I can and will refuse to help with the storyline at any time.
5. Even if you have no other reason to PM other than just to say hi and chat, that's fine! I don't use PM just for straight serious stuff, I'm more than happy to chat.

It sounds like you switched from Administrator to Standard user. Use the account you first made on the computer to access Administrator privileges.
Edit: Here is a more in depth article from Winbeta about this. http://www.winbeta.org/news/manage-user-accounts
