so i fanally figured out how to download mods and maps. but i have a problem. i did all the nessacary things such as installing forge, making a mods folder, deleting meta, and making the mod jar a folder, but i went into the game and went under mods, and the only thing there was the forge stuff. this happend with a prison map aswell. im on a mac but i dont think it has anything to do with that. PLZ HELP
What MC version are you using? For all recent versions, installation is as simple as dropping the mod file (typically .jar, or .zip for older versions) into the mods folder. No need to do things like "deleting meta" and "making the mod jar a folder" like you said you were doing, unless the mod's installation instructions say otherwise.

Realistic Torches - Causes torches to burn out after a configurable amount of time.
Nature's Compass - A utility item that allows you to search for any biome's location in the world.
im using i.8 minecraft and 1.8 not enough items. thats it. nothing else
In that case, all you need to do is drop the latest CodeChickenCore and NotEnoughItems jar files into the mods folder. Make sure you are using 1.8 universal versions of both, NOT dev or src.

What? Are you seriously proposing that he use dev or src versions of NEI and CCC? If so, I highly recommend you take a look at what those words mean in this context. Dev and src should not be touched unless you are a developer or have some other need of the mod's source code.

And a few others that we don't talk about.

Curse PremiumNotEnoughItems is, in essence, one mod plus a core mod.

For NEI and CCC, I'd always recommend that you go for latest over recommended.
