disabling doesn't always mean the program will not interfer, first try disabling AVG link scanner, which is known to be an issue to minecraft.
AVG's antivirus program is known to interfere with Minecraft's self-update process. You will have to disable AVG's LinkScanner feature for Minecraft to update itself properly. To turn it off, follow these directions:http://www.avg.com/ww-en/faq.num-4498#tba5
If that doesn't work then uninstall AVG fully and try minecraft
Go to your start menu then type cmd, right click the icon and click run as administrator, then type netsh winsock reset, and restart your computer. Minecraft should work once you've restarted your computer.
I'd like to play the game but each time I try to log in I get this, I've tried lots of other launchers but I don't know why this happens.
I'm on windows 8.1 still, and I have Java and everything so I'd really like to figure this out.
Before this, I kept getting a crash report, so I logged out to try and log back in to see what the problem was. Apparently it was this. :\
