Okay, I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I haven't posted on here that much and I'm not sure, but I really need help. I tried downloading a mod and got the famous blackscreen. This is my first time getting it and I've been advised to re-download Minecraft altogether. I really need to know if I redownload it and delete the original, will my worlds/saves be lost? If anyone can help, please respond ASAP! Thank you!

No. All of your Minecraft data is in your '.minecraft' folder in Roaming, which is in AppData (if you use Windows). If you delete the launcher and reinstall it, it'll still have your worlds and stuff. However, deleting the '.minecraft' folder will delete everything, so be carefull!! (that's an extra exclamation mark to be clear)

I once heard someone say you could fight off the Ender Dragon with sticks. He was the smartest person I have ever met.

Nope. The worlds will be gone, too. I know from experience.
Force Updating wont delete your worlds, texture packs, server settings, etc. But it will get rid of your mods.
Go to your .minecraft, by opening run and typing %appdata% (.minecraft should be the first file) and the saves file will be in there.
