I am getting 5-8 fps I've tried many different fixes and none have seemed to work. Yesterday I was getting 30-50 fps after allocating more ram to Java but not long after it dropped again. I'm playing on an Alienware X17 R3 with Intel i7 quad core at 2.20 GHz, AMD Radeon HD 6870M and using Java 64 bit. my performance monitor shows less than 50% usage when minecraft is running.
I've been looking at an AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-core 3.5GHz lately to try to run Fallout 4 (I've seen recommended specs and know Im reaching.) would that be a large improvement? and as for running games I run Skyrim with 130+ mods on ultra with no problems Minecraft is the only game I have problems with.
Another odd thing; When my laptop is unplugged the game runs perfectly fine 30-50 Fps obviously not a permanent solution. from what I've read it could be that i have performance hogging programs running in the background or my power settings are wrong. looking at my processes tray nothing is running over 20,000 K other than javaw.exe *32 and java.exe. as far as i can tell my power settings are max performance while plugged in and unplugged. seeing as how I have a battery draining cooling pad playing unplugged is a 20 min solution as well as the laptop only charges after fiddling with the cord for a good 5 mins.I know my computer can run minecraft at 50fps its just finding the bad apple.
I found Optifine improved mine quite a bit, but it does depend on what settings you toggle in there and also the preset minecraft ones. I also have Javaw set to high priority and I run it and Minecraft as Administrator.

Yeah, as Minecraft is a Java game, not DX.
