I wasn't sure whether to put this in Modified or Unmodified Support, so I put it in both, I have mods installed in 2 different .minecrafts, however I don't know if they're conflicting with the Game Directory. Anyways... I've been trying to change my Game Directory to a folder on my Desktop called "MinecraftPost1.6" however when I delete the versions and launcher_profiles.json, and reopen the launcher, they appear back, reset, and the Game Directory does not switch for real. I can't give anything else away to help you help me, this is all I know.
P.S. Don't ask why I am doing this, I have my reasons, and I swear it isn't for drug abuse.
versions and launcher_profiles.json are not stored in the game directory. They are stored in %appdata%/.minecraft with all of the other LAUNCHER files.
The game directory stores things like options.txt and saves
