I have a number of PCs running Mint 17.2 but this one machine won't allow the game to start. No idea why. I have Java8 and the latest graphic drivers.

I don't know why it kept using Optifine but I removed the .minecraft folder and minecraft.jar and still causes a crash. Anyway here's a report from Minecraft without any mods. It seems the error is about it can't find a display.

Moderatorfirst try reinstalling minecraft, that log is suggesting your modded, yet you posted in the unmodded section
