My Minecraft will not go to 'play' on the launcher. It is stuck on 'play offline'. I have tried uninstalling minecraft then reinstalling it. Nothing is working! I'm pretty sure Minecraft servers are up. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I presume you're using mods? If not, then it's likely the Minecraft files are corrupted. Apart from that, the error log is, at least to me, not letting on a great deal. If you've tried un-installing and re-installing like you say and it hasn't worked, then maybe install Java (I'd recommend Java 7 and not 8). Not guaranteeing anything, but legacy Java could work better than the custom version Mojang ships with the installer package.
You can still play Minecraft when it says play offline.
While this is true, you won't be able to join an online session (multiplayer server) when playing offline. If you're going to be playing single player, then I'd recommend just sticking with Offline mode for now, unless it's that much of a bugbear.

The creeper was once the crowning jewel of Minecraft... Until those retarded Endermen... FIGHT FOR CREEPER RIGHTS!!! SUPPORT THE CREEP MOD!
For a PC, yes, but this is a laptop we're talking about. the i3-4030U Processor is found in notebooks. Plus, 1.9GHz isn't Stone Age tech, that'll still get the job done when it comes to Minecraft. The biggest bottleneck here is the integrated graphics chip.

I only use OptiFine because of my my laggy laptop with regular minecraft being around 10-20 fps. I also get that crash report when I join a singleplayer world, so Minecraft is unplayable, at the moment.
those of you wondering why i don't have an active RP (so far none). i try. but whenever i get to the rules section of it my computer restarts. computer: i realise what your telling me and i give up.
AVG's antivirus program is known to interfere with Minecraft's self-update process. You will have to disable AVG's LinkScanner feature for Minecraft to update itself properly. To turn it off, follow these directions: http://www.avg.com/ww-en/faq.num-4498#tba5
Try that ^^
If it still crashes try removing AVG to rule it out fully as the issue

Edit: Does this have anything to do with it?

ModeratorOptifine IS a mod, so thread moved to modded support.
This issue can be antivirus related, what AV do you use?
I use AVG. I have begun using it when the problem happened, so maybe.

sometimes does it to me. with me it isn't actually offline and i can go on servers and have my skin.
like many users of the minecraft forums i'm a member of the server total war (IP:167.114.100.168:438) the server includes a 1:1500 scale map of earth.
