I just purchased Minecraft twice for my two sons as information I read stated they both need their own account in order to have there own username and worlds they can be the sole controllers of.
We have an iMac and each boy has their own user account on the iMac. Each purchase of Minecraft was made from within each of the boys' respective iMac user account. I thought we would end up with two installations that were totally separate. Instead we have a complete failure. I have researched the Internet for a solution without success.
First off I purchased Minecraft from within the first boy's iMac account. It installed and worked. Then I logged out and went to the second boy's iMac account and purchased Minecraft again. However when I tried to install it I was told there was already a copy on the computer, do I want to replace, overwrite or duplicate? This is where the installation fell apart. I went through this process multiple times, trying all the options (replace, overwrite, duplicate), switching between the two iMac accounts selecting all possibilities.
No matter what I did I would end up in the situation where one of the boys' Minecraft install would work and the other boy's would fail at launch with the message "Minecraft Updater - Unable to start Minecraft, if you are running from a .dmg, please drag to applications and try again." Then the infinite loop of frustration repeated ad infinitum.
The installer does not seem to be able to handle this simple installation setup on an iMac (running El Capitan)

Any help appreciated, thanks.
Use the same launcher but have one boy log into a different launcher account than the other. If this is not specific enough (lol) tell me.
