The problems Is with my Graphics Driver. I went to open up minecraft and it gave me an error saying something is wrong with your graphics driver. Please upate etc.
I am also having problems with an error message on the side saying my graphics driver has stopped and has no been recovered. It really annoys and bothers me considering I have a good laptop it should be running smoothly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I downloaded both the links, I can play minecraft, but now when I went to record it recorded for a bit then my screen went black. 5 seconds later it said graphics driver has stopped and successfully recovered. This is a really good computer and I'm confused why I'm having all these problems. I haven't done the second part you mentioned "also make sure your computer is set (via nvidia control panel) to use the nvidia GPU for minecraft and java"
Could you please explain how you would do this. Thanks for the help.
the intel drivers were windows 10 version, the link even says windows 10.
i don't use nvidia myself so i don't know the exact setting, but try
From NVIDIA Control Panel
3D Settings->Manage 3D Settings
Tab "Global setttings"
Preferred Graphics Processor
Select : High performance NVIDIA processor
To check what GPU is used by minecraft load minecraft and open a world, then press f3, the GPU is listed on the right
Do you mean CPU? Because this is what I am seeing When I start a new world and press f3
Java:1.8.0_25 64Bit
Mem: (Fluctuates a lot. 1-5%)
Allocated: 12% 914MB
CPU:8x Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz
I still still my screen flash black every once in a while. I don't know why this is and ive tried everything you've asked. Maybe it's a virus considering how slow my computer is at points.
I'm also getting unable to locate sign every once in a while as well.
I've had the same problem with my chip. My MSI laptop (I have the GT70 Dominator, which is a boss!) has an Intel HD Graphics 4600 as the primary (integrated with Core i7-4810MQ CPU!) and an NVIDIA GTX 870M as the Dedicated card. My Intel driver (though I have the Windows 10 version) constantly crashes. I believe it has something to do with the factory drivers not properly upgrading to the Windows 10 version during the OS upgrade from 7 or 8.1 to 10.
I found some solutions, but one of them only helps Minecraft. any VRAM (Video RAM, which is integrated with ALL Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD chips) intensive games like Starcraft and any Steam games will by default go to low settings due to low VRAM. (Most secondary cards range from 2GB to a whopping 8GB of VRAM!) One thing that you need to know is VRAM is seperate from the RAM on the chips or cards your PC has.
Here's the steps to my solution (ONLY use this if your computer has a second graphics chip!)
1) Go to Control Panel
2) Click 'View devices and printers'
3) Double-click the name of your PC
4) look for the 'Intel Graphics XXXX' tab (XXXX means the chip #)
5) Double-click it and it will take you to the chip's 'Properties' tab
6) Click the 'Change advanced settings'
7) Go the 'Drivers' tab, then click 'Disable'
Once you do that, your display will cut off for a second as it swaps graphics cards.
The other solutions depends on if your Dedicated (That refers to the secondary card, whether it be NVIDIA or AMD) card brand.
For AMD chips, you change the settings in the AMD Catalyst Manager.
From what I know (which isn't very much XD) most computers come with only one graphics chip installed. Unless you put in a second one, you only have one. When you upgraded to Windows 10, what did you have before, 7 or 8.1? Did you use the GWX app, or the iSO form? Also, how old is your computer?

I had Windows 8.1 before I went to Windows 10. My computer is only 6 Months old. And I don't know what the GWX app or ISO Form is... Sorry not the best with computers..

The GWX was the little Get Windows 10 app in the system tray. ISO is where you download the files from Microsoft to manually update to Win 10. I'm going to assume that you used the GWX app. How long has it been since you upgraded?
