My friend is having some issues connecting to ANY server, 1.7 or higher (or as far as he's tested).
He's getting this error
[Server Connector #1/ERROR]: Couldn't connect to server
java.lang.NullPointerException: group
at io.netty.bootstrap.AbstractBootstrap.group(AbstractBootstrap.java:80) ~[netty-all-4.0.23.Final.jar:4.0.23.Final]
at ek.a(SourceFile:264) ~[1.8.7.jar:?]
at awz$1.run(SourceFile:59) [1.8.7.jar:?]
His Minecraft client is completely vanilla. No OptiFine, no nothing.
We would like some support on how to resolve this issue. He's had this issue for a while.
mcafee is known to cause issues like this, tell him to remove mcafee using this removal tool http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp and use something like Avast (which is free and doesn't mess minecraft up)

He says he uses McAfee.
