This problem showed up out of nowhere a few weeks ago and I have no idea what could have caused it.
I play with an unmodified, unmigrated Minecraft account on 1.8. For some reason, I got logged out and according to the launcher, my login information is incorrect.
Here are some things I have tried:
- delete .minecraft
- redownload the launcher
- send a password reset email to my old AOL email from 2011 (which didn't send, by the way)
- look for the transaction ID (could not be found because my account was purchased with a credit card and that wasn't logged on the statement)
- email Skrill (which was useless because my father's old email address got corrupted and is completely unusable)
- contact Mojang support and ask them for the transaction ID (they're about a month behind on emails)
So rather than wait a month for Mojang support to finally slog through their backlog of emails, I was wondering if anyone here has experienced this issue and what solutions they could help me come to.
If you need me to post anything, such as a console log (which is impossible since the console closes to display the login screen), please let me know.

A common cause of this is that you somehow triggered an anti-brute force safety they have in place. The way to resolve it is to not attempt a log in at all for 3 hours, so that the lockout clears itself. After 3 hours without a login attempt, log in with your new password if you reset it. Otherwise log in as you normally would.
