I've gotten the Pixelmon 1.8 file downloaded, and I tossed it into the newly made "mods" folder that I read to do. When I try to launch my game, it loads the mod, and gets about halfway through before it crashes.
I didn't change my Minecraft version, the Forge profile is still the latest, which I assumed Pixelmon was as well.
Here's the crash log:

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:

You need to allocate more RAM to the game. It can't handle everything your doing with a measly little 0.5GB.
I'm not sure where you're reading 5GB, but I certainly have enough ram. I have enough to play all of my Steam games without issue. So how is it a mod for Minecraft can't seem to launch?
I said 0.5, which is half a gig. Also, look at @sazrock's comment. That's how I see it.
Then there's something wrong with the mod. Again, I have over 50 Steam games installed, and not once have I ran into an issue with trying to play them. If a mod for Minecraft is more powerful or uses more memory than my Steam games that's an issue with the mod.

You have 0.5 GB RAM allocated to Minecraft. This is obviously not enough to run Pixelmon, as stated in the crash report and others in this thread. Yes, you have 8 GB total, but only 0.5 GB is dedicated to Minecraft. Try with 2-3 GB.

Just because you have 50 steam games, doesn't mean that Minecraft has all that ram. Your steam games are taking, maybe 4GB of your ram, while minecraft only takes how much you give it. Your only feeding it half a gig of ram, which is practically nothing.
