I'm a newbie dad trying to install Forge for my son.
We have Minecraft 1.8.2. We've downloaded and run the recommended Win installer. Once it finishes installing, we start up Minecraft and Forge does not show up in the bottom left corner of the screen after we press Play. Tried this a couple of times.
A text file seems to be created with each install that contains the following. Seems like something is not working correctly. Can someone help us? I promised my son mods for his birthday today and am failing at doing so.
Thanks brandon2004. I did look at your posts but did not find anything at directly addressed my issue.
In the meantime, I was able to solve my issue. I tried running minecraft as admin and the forge version loaded up, but when I run it without admin rights, it does not.
So, what seems to be happening is that the installer (which asks for admin password while installing) installs the forge version in the admin user folder under APPDATA (in my case Byas2 folder) instead of in the Family user folder. I compared the .minecraft sub folders in both and copied over the files from the admin folder to the family folder. Now I can click on minecraft in the Family acct and it runs the forge version without needing to start as Admin. In hindsight I should have noticed this from the install text that I posted above where it lists the admin folder (Byas2) and not the family folder
