Im pretty new to PC building, i got a GTX 970, along with an i5 4460. (3.20 GHz)
This is a pretty high end graphics card, and the goal was to run really good shader packs with good frames. I do run amazing shaders, and most of the time with good frames. But sometimes i notice that i go from 60-35 frames really fast sometimes, and it gets a little bit annoying when it just dips down like that. I would be fine with 35 frames, but i dont like how it dips from 60+-35 really fast.
I load up MSI afterburner and the GPU usage is at 48-56%, and if i play gta IV, it is at 97-99%. Correct me if im wrong, but logic tells me that my GPU doesnt work as hard on minecraft as it does on gta IV.
The frames dips down to 35 really fast and makes it look laggy while 48% of my GPU is being used. What do i do?

It's CPU wise, not GPU wise.
How much ram have you dedicated to Minecraft?
