I went Minecraft server with a new skin, I was holding my sword, I asked my friends how do I look they said I look cool I said thanks, but than I picked up some dirt now I didn't want any dirt in my inventory, so I pressed E than I saw that I was STEVE! I asked my friends if they where trolling me and they said no. I have changed my skin a lot a times now and I am still Steve. so can some help???
Maybe it's a glitch with the server. Try opening it in single player and see if you have the same problem. But, if you think about it, does it really matter as long as other people see it?

We have encountered this problem before. Just give it some time and usually it'll reappear again. Game just likes to default to Steve when the server hangs. Or sometimes it decides your skin is too cool and gets jealous and decided to keep it to itself, try it on, gazing longingly into the mirror reminiscing about the times that it too, once felt beautiful.

What version are you playing on...?
Possibly your skin is getting delayed to change? It will probably show up eventually.
