I apologize for reviving this old thread but I just wanted to say that I was in the same predicament as the original poster (my game was crashing when trying to get a 1.7.10 Forge and Optifine shaders setup to play nice together) and OcAMD's reply worked brilliantly. I'd spent hours of frustration trying to figure out why my old 1.7.10 files weren't working and it turns out that I didn't have the EXACT versions that work together as specified in his post. Once I followed the post exactly, my game at last worked.
Hopefully if anyone winds up in the same situation they'll see this thread. Again, I apologize for the necro. I just wanted to thank OcAMD very much for his post, and confirm for anyone who might stumble upon it that it works.

Please give me a download link. I'm half retarded sorry bout that btw but It just keeps crashing. I'm about .5 seconds from snapping my own neck.
Yeah I've tried about 8 different versions of Forge still crashes
Here is the Forge site.
http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.7.10.html
Just download the recommended version; 10.13.4.1448.
This is from the OP from the shaders mod.
