Well, I'm doing a single player survival in the snapshot 15w39a.
I was in a cave until I noticed there was light, But no torches...
My sister was on the singleplayer via LAN Host, and she couldn't see the light, she had darkness.
Proof:
Check the brightness settings (reset the brightness), or see if nightvision is on.

Brightness settings are fine and nightvision is not on.
