Okay, so I recently downloaded the newest Java version on my Mac. It took awhile to actually work on the computer itself, but now it won't let me use it with Minecraft. Is there a simple(ish) way to try and get it to work correctly?
you need to tell file you are using where the java file is. You are lucky my school last year got us macs to use, otherwise I would have no idea where to start.
the path should look something like "/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_71.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/java", depending on which version of java you wish to use. look in the folder "/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines" for installed jvm's. if the one you downloaded is not there, then I cannot help you now.

Yeah, it's not there. I'll keep trying to install the newest Java and see if it works then.
