I'm at a loss as to what to do here, so I'm hoping someone can assist me. =-)
Basically I can play with the shaders mod just fine on its own, with or without Forge, even with HD texture packs. However, once I start adding mods, Minecraft becomes unplayable with lag that starts at the menu. If anyone has any idea as to what I need to do to fix this issue, please let me know!
In case it matters, here are my system specifications. If any other information is needed, just ask.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit
CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: ATI AMD Radeon R7 360 2GB
RAM: 8 GB
Hello Grimallq, thanks for the response and for the information, I appreciate it. =-)
That's too bad, but I can understand why. Do you know of any alternatives that you would recommend? I'm finding a few, but just curious if you have any recommendations.

Look for lightmaps, they're not as good as shaders, but they can make a big diiference. Pixel Reality Luminance is the one I use.

Please don't PM me asking for help, I will just redirect you to the appropriate forum, where there are others who are far more skilled than me.
I've found that particular one, and also found another that introduces bloom lighting through the secret settings and resource pack options, a link to that is here. As you said, it's not as good as shaders, but it's certainly better than nothing. =-)
